I attended a talk by Paul Ehrlich, the primary author of the quoted book.
I can imagine him saying many of those quotes. But the commentary and quote selection makes him seem like a fanatic -- and he certainly is not.
This is a great example of inflammatory writing. Analogous to people quoting Christians about evil, hell, and values -- without the context.
