A Jesuit And Our Lady Of Mount Carmel

Today on the 16th of July 2008, the Sacred Heart Monestary, Kankanady, celebrated the Carmel feast at 5. 30p.m. There was an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 5 p.m. Rev. Fr. Francis Serrao, S.J, celebrated the festive mass, with the co - celebrants Rev. Fr. Victor Machado, Fr. William Barrocas, Fr. J. B. Crasta and Fr. John Pinto (O.C.D). Fr. Francis Serrao in his homely said,

"When you read the first page of the bible, you will get to read about a tree and a woman, and if you read the last page of the bible, you will get a tree and a woman again. In first page, a woman reached near the tree to eat that fruit, but in the last page, the woman gives back its fruit to the tree to save us from the fire of hell, to save us from our sins, and to get eternal life.
A woman performs three important roles in her child's life. They are giving, taking and praising. Mother means a giver without expecting anything from her child or children. She always sacrifices her life to her children. Mother means 'gives and she forgives' her children. There is a saying "God gives, gives, and forgives, but the man gets, gets and forgets".

Read the lengthy article (here) it contains many pictures of Indian Carmelites.

An interesting homily...

Can anyone point out to me exactly where this woman and tree is on the last page of the bible?

I would assume, some fuzzy translation from Hindi into English. He most likely was talking about Mary, Jesus' Blessed Mother at the foot of the Cross at Mt Calvary. Hence the new Eve.
