Wild Wrestling

Marquette University president Robert Wild today announced he has directed the Milwaukee school’s Department of Human Resources to include coverage for registered domestic partners in the university’s health insurance plans, beginning with the start of the new coverage year, Jan. 1, 2012. Wild said he had wrestled with issue over the past few years. “If we are truly pastoral in our application of the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, I asked myself if I could reconcile that with denying health benefits to a couple who have legally registered their commitment to each other,” Wild said. Wild noted that the State of Wisconsin gives legal recognition both to marriage for heterosexual couples and to a registered domestic partnership for same-sex couples.

He should be fired. More worrisome for him, he is shifting his drive to hell into high gear.

Jesuits don't believe in hell, it seems...

Just great. Now "cura personalis" is being distorted to mean affirming the homos@xual lifestyle. Authentic care of the person's specific, individual needs would be to not condone objectively sinful, disordered behavior but instead to call them out of it. Is the president going to offer alcohol subsidies to alcoholics in the name of "cura personalis"? How about gambling money to gambling addicts? It doesn't help people who suffer from disorders to affirm them in their destructive, disordered behavior. And that is exactly what university policy will now do by granting official recognition and benefits to people in disordered same-s@x relationships.

@Anonymous 2.05: Their reason for moving forward with this initiative is to ensure that Jesuits' same-sex partners will be covered as well. It's only a matter of time.

How sad. It would be nice if the Archbishop of Milwaukee at least spoke against this measure, even if he can not do anything about it.

"You make a mockery of the Cross, dear Fathers, you make a mockery of our religion, you make a mockery of the daily Mass, if there is not such a thing as sin and hell. The life of Our Lord becomes -- as it is in reality, not becomes, as it is in reality --a road-block cast up by Divine mercy, to try to stop millions from casting themselves into hell. God was not bluffing when He permitted His Divine Son to be nailed to a cross".
-Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald

They won't stop until we are all in hell.

In the photo, dear Father looks smugly, perniciously self-satisfied with his decision.

Good and holy Jesuits rise up and fix this problem.

Maybe Wild should offer the victims of Donald McGuire SJ domestic partner benefits? Considering he covered up for a serial molester living with children at Canisius House while he was Provincial of Chicago. Or maybe he should join McGuire as his "domestic partner" in federal prison.
