On March 18th 2010 Fr. James Martin, S.J. the New York City based Culture Editor of America the leading Jesuit publication in the English speaking world appeared on Comedy Central's, The Colbert Report .The show is hosted by comedian and satirist Stephen Colbert. The subject of this particular segment was Fox television and radio talk show host, Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck a political satirist has recently been doing critical exposes and commentaries on Christian "Social Justice" and its connections to National Socialism, Socialism and Communism. Father Martin's participated in a limited appearance as Colbert's foil. The heavily edited treatment of Glenn Beck's rather lengthy original comments intellectually short change the viewer in this otherwise rather funny segment. Fr. Martin during the segment quotes Brazilian Archbishop Hélder Câmara, "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a Communist."
