Honoring the feast day of St. Francis Xavier, Jesuit president Fr. Richard Hermes, S.J., made a timely announcement to the students at morning convocation that the legendary Jesuit saint would assume more of a presence at Jesuit High School. Fr. Hermes has proposed that St. Francis Xavier be considered Jesuit's patron of Tiger athletics. An old statue of Xavier, donated to the school by Tampa's historic (former Jesuit parish) Sacred Heart Catholic Church, has been refurbished and mounted on a brick pedestal in front of the weight room of the Al Lopez Sr. Sports Complex, where it will preside over the athletic fields.
In the near future, new landscaping, lighting and signage will be added to spotlight the area where the statue will permanently reside.

Isn't St. Francis Xavier's feast day, on 3 December?
Interesting 3 December is also a rather interesting date in Ministry of Truth events, in George Orwell's 1984. Not related of course, just interesting synchronicity.
Anyway, please clarify, is the feast day 3 December, or another day?

This is appropriate as St Francis Xavier was a brilliant athlete at the Sorbonne and a champion vaulter.
