In announcing Marcouiller’s appointment, McMahon said, “I am confident that we will be blessed through Marcouiller's leadership. He will have a special place in our prayers in the upcoming months.” Father Marcouiller said, “The Jesuits of the Missouri Province are hardworking and holy men. I look forward to serving them as well as I can. I am also eager to work with our many colleagues and partners in ministry.”
Marcouiller currently serves as rector of Bellarmine House of Studies and Associate Professor of Economics at Saint Louis University. He took up these positions in 2004 after ten years as a professor of economics at Boston College. After his 1986 ordination as a priest, he earned a PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
