The "Whatnot" noted that the Rev. Leo Guay, S.J., formerly of Laconia, was teaching classes in sign language for the deaf at Weston College and in Boston. "Now and then at the classes there are signed sermons and the like, and conversational practice goes on all the time." Father Guay was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Guay of New Salem Street. Note: In later years, he also became an architect, designing buildings for the church in Baghdad, Beirut and Jamaica.
