The Jesuit Of Cipinang Penitentiary

Jesuit Father Mikael Irwan, involved in the Church's prison ministry, said priests serving the East Jakarta area visit the prison on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month to celebrate Mass and hear confessions. The Cipinang penitentiary, built by the Dutch colonial government, now has 3,334 prisoners, of whom 401 are Christians including 40 Catholics.
