The Jesuit Cardinal Of Indonesia

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, speaking at the national Christmas celebration, encouraged all citizens to respect and appreciate pluralism in the country. “We must be thankful for our pluralistic nation and accept our plurality as a gift from Almighty God,” he told about 6,000 mostly Christians attending the Dec. 27 celebration at the Jakarta International Convention Center. Also attending were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, and several Cabinet ministers, legislators and foreign diplomats. Jesuit Cardinal Julius Darmaatmadja of Jakarta was among Catholic and Protestant Church leaders at the event.
