The role and potential ordination of women in the Roman Catholic Church is the subject of a lecture Monday, May 11, by scholar Gary Macy, who has written a book on the topic.
Macy, the John Nobilli, S.J. Professor of Theology at Santa Clara University in California, will speak at 7 p.m. in Benton Chapel at 411 21st Ave. S.
The lecture, “A Higher Calling for Women? Historical Perspectives in the Catholic Church,” is free and open to the public.
Macy, author of The Secret History of Women’s Ordination, will talk about his research that shows clear historical evidence of women with episcopal powers serving in the Catholic Church.
The lecture will be recorded for podcast and posted on VU Cast the Web site of Vanderbilt News Service, at www.vanderbilt.edu/news.

Is it just me, or is there a link between priests who wear their clerics and remain faithful to the Church (overall, of course) vs. priests who prefer civilian garb and do not remain faithful to the Church. I've seen this with many Jesuits, but also otherwise (I think here of McBrien at ND)--always in a suit and tie of some kind, like a business man.
These men are priests and priests have a certain 'uniform'. What's the problem?

You are onto something!
