Monsignor Milton L. Reisch, a Catholic priest, teacher and retreat master who was pastor of Our Lady of Divine Providence Parish in Metairie for 17 years, died July 18 after complications from surgery in mid-May. He was 81. His 51 years as a priest began as a member of the Jesuit order, teaching math and physics at Jesuit High School through the 1960s. Monsignor Reisch then ran Catholic missions in Mississippi, conducted retreats at the order’s Manresa retreat house and, while on a leave of absence, taught school in Iran, where he was the only priest in Shiraz, a city of more than 1 million people. Returning from Iran, Monsignor Reisch left the Jesuits to become a priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
