About This Collection
The Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact was a Catholic comic book published by George A. Pflaum of Dayton, Ohio, and provided to Catholic parochial school students between 1946 and 1972. The digital collection is a project that includes the first eighteen volumes running from 1946 to 1963. (Some issues in Volume 4 are missing.)
Additionally, illustrator and writer Frank Borth was interviewed by American Catholic History Research Center archivists Maria Mazzenga and Jordan Patty at Borth's home on May 10, 2006. This was recorded on two audio cassette tapes that were digitally transferred to a compact disc and transcribed. In the interview, Borth discusses how he became a professional illustrator, the creation of original characters, and collaboration with Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact writers and editors.
