Deep Regrets

“The British Jesuits have fully noted the judgment of the Court of Appeal and are discussing its implications with their legal advisers. They recognize the claimant’s right to proceed with his claim for damages. And they deeply regret any abuse he suffered during his time at Preston Catholic College.”

The British Province of the Society of Jesus is one of the richest in the world with capital assets to the tune of over £400m. Much of this, however, is bound up in land and property, but there is plenty left. It will be interesting to see how this case succeeds. It is full of odd inconsistencies, of which one of the strangest is the invitation of Fr Spencer to conduct the victim's wedding. Odd.
