A Different kind of September 11th

Fr John Carroll, S.J. writing to his mother Eleanor Darnall Carroll,

the letter is dated September 11, 1773 upon hearing of the suppression of the Jesuits.

"Our so long persecuted, and I must say holy society is no more, you see that I am my own master, and left to my own direction."
