The Society Of Jesus’s Position On Same-Sex Marriage

Martyr's Court
..the Vatican has continued its fight against same-sex marriage, calling it
“an ideology founded on political correctness which is invading every culture of the world.”
Father Phil Florio, S.J., Fordham University's director of campus ministry and resident priest of Martyr’s Court Jogues Hall, affirmed that the Society of Jesus’s position on same-sex marriage is identical to the Vatican’s.

Your insinuations of latent disordered inclinations are tiresome and unfounded. Such accusations only work on people who don't have a spine or who aren't secure in the truth. The story links to a news article from just a couple days ago. This blog is not raising the topic, the deviants are the ones raising the topic incessantly, and they are the ones who are obsessed in an unnatural way.

I agree w/John.

This website IS obsessed about gays, homoeroticism, gay marriage, etc. The blog's author goes looking for this stuff to feed the conservatives who are confused about their own sexuality. They, in turn, engage in vile hate speech all while being fascinated--perhaps attracted?--to same-sex relationships.

If they weren't they'd be indifferent.

If we are being critical about this topic, it is only because the human race will be finished. Truth be told 2 people of the same sex cannot have children, if that were the case then life would be different. Any disagreements, take it with the Creator.

1. "Truth be told 2 people of the same sex cannot have children"

Is everyone gay? have you heard of artificial insemination?

2. "Why do dissidents and deviants always throw the baseless "confused about their own sexuality" charge at supporters of natural morality and naturally ordered sex?"

Because the scholarly evidence indicates that they do.

3. "We will oppose you every step of the way and laugh at your immature attempts to silence us."

Oh how very scary!

Dennis -
the human race will not be finished .

For couples who are having trouble having children - by taking it to the IVF clinic the same as taking it to the creator?

is IVF Gods "Natural Order"?

It seems moronic to even talk about the SJ's position on Same Sex Marriage. If they have one it means nothing, as only the Supreme Pontiff's position means anything. Catholic's need to stand up for and with the Church's teachings on everything. We need to openly oppose those who claim membership in His Body.

"only the Supreme Pontiff's position means anything."

Not the Bishops? not the laity? Not sensus fidelium?

Dennis, that's an interesting theory. However, reductio ad absurdum: if all men became priests the same thing would happen, too, so... I don't think you have a very compelling argument -- I'm sure the "Creater" would have an objection to that logic.

Also Ray said: "Catholic's need to stand up for and with the Church's teachings on everything. We need to openly oppose those who claim membership in His Body."

Ray, I believe Plato's dialogue Euthyphro dilemma can apply here as St. Thomas Aquinas uses it quite often: "But this commanding authority cannot itself be based on those very commands (i.e., a command to obey one's own commands), otherwise a vicious circle results. So, in order for God's commands to obligate us, he must derive commanding authority from some source other than his own will. As Cudworth put it: "For it was never heard of, that any one founded all his authority of commanding others, and others (sic) obligation or duty to obey his commands, in a law of his own making, that men should be required, obliged, or bound to obey him. Wherefore since the thing willed in all laws is not that men should be bound or obliged to obey; this thing cannot be the product of the meer (sic) will of the commander, but it must proceed from something else; namely, the right or authority of the commander".

It does not behoove anyone to blindly follow. God, or this perfect entity, creator, or whatever you would want to call s/he or it would most certainly want us to determine our moral obligations using the two pilars of ethics: empathy and reciprocity (justice) -- the most neccissary parts of living in an ethical society - though, it is NOT sufficient, but those are the most basic ways you can ethically relate to people. In order to do that you need to come up with consistent arguments and what I'm seeing with the Catechism... not so consistent. Morality is a part of the marketplace of ideas and arguments. The way you sell arguments is by coming up with logically SOUND, VALID, and consistent arguments. And unfortunatly the Church needs to suck up her pride and reevaluate because Jesus wouldn't even buy the ideas in that Catechism.
