Jesuit At America Magazine Links Blessed John Paul II With The Disgraced Founder Of The Legionaires

I remember watching a TV broadcast of a papal Mass in Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome with the announcer pointing out that the young acolytes in surplices sharing the altar with the Pope were Legion seminarians. The trouble is that Maciel was a fraud......
Throughout John Paul’s papacy the victims besieged the Vatican with their evidence, and the pope ignored their pleas, partly,
according to Berry, because Maciel was a great fund raiser and had showered Vatican officials with cash.

John Paul II is a Saint, not a Prophet. Like most of us, he must rely on his best judgment when not given revelation. So Fr. Maciel had values that seemed aligned with his own. If John Paul II made human mistakes, we shouldn’t be surprised.

@Tony

Saint= being suckered.

Conman = refusing to listen to many warnings, and accepting $$$$.

Hope this helps.

Anonymous 5:18,

A Saint may refuse to listen to warnings, and a Saint may accept money. A Saint may make statements about God that are completely untrue and absurd. A Saint may start an organization that God doesn’t want to exist. A Saint may be Catholic or not. A Saint may hold beliefs that contradict God. A Saint may be a conman.

If this weren’t true, we wouldn’t have any Saints.

"Yet the overall portrait is one of men content in their vocations, who have drawn closer to the person of Jesus WHIlE LEAVING AN EARLIER ALMIGHTY GOD FIGURE BEHIND." [Father Raymond Schroth, S.J., review of Passionate Uncertainty: Inside the American Jesuits, Star-Ledger (Newark) March 3, 2002, p. 5]

Who knew? God is no longer Almighty and no longer present,He is past tense. Thank goodness we got that cleared up!
