By the age of 16 years old, George Washington had re-written 110 rules for civility and decent behavior. These guidelines for social etiquette were based from a set of rules (In English: Fr. Francis Hawkins, S.J., Youths Behaviour, Or Decency in Conversation amongst Men) authored by French Jesuits in the late 16th century. Today, they are still considered as most relevant in social situations - despite the constant promotion of contrary values on popular media, television, and movies. Additionally, they are most applicable - and effective - in social networking sites, the most popular one of course is Facebook. We examine 10 rules from George Washington's Rules for Civility and Decent Behavior as to their applicability when you're on Facebook.
