The superior general of the Society of Jesus will be on a two-day visit to the city, starting Thursday. Spanish Jesuit Father Adolfo Nicolas, 73, who took charge of the 17,000 Jesuits worldwide on January 19, 2008, will be on his first official visit here. Father Nicolas will meet the Jesuits of Calcutta Province and celebrate Mass at St Xavier's College on Thursday. At 6 pm, he will address the Alumni Association and collaborators of Jesuits at the St Xavier's College Auditorium. He will meet Archbishop Lucas Sirkar and the Bishops of Asansol and Baruipur and also interact with Catholic Major superiors of Religious Congregations of the region in the evening the same day.
