He invariably took a cigar and, breaking it in half with his fingers, making as clean a cut as if done by a knife, he would hand one part to his visitor and light the other half for himself, saying: "Half a cigar is enough for any man to smoke."This can be interpreted to mean that too much nicotine is injurious to the system.
