The Guild of St. Luke of the Archdiocese of Boston will host its annual White Mass on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s Seminary. A reception and dinner will follow.Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley will be the celebrant and homilist at the Mass. Father Myles N. Sheehan, S.J., M.D., the newly appointed provincial for the New England Province of the Society of Jesus, will be the principal speaker at the dinner.
Father Sheehan was born in Marshfield and graduated from the Dartmouth College School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in geriatric medicine. In 2005 he entered the Society of Jesus and was ordained a priest; he was appointed provincial in 2009. For the past fourteen years he has been a professor of medicine at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago.

The Guild of St. Luke of the Archdiocese of Boston was founded in 1912 by William Cardinal O’Connell and is the oldest Catholic physician’s guild in the United States.
