French Jesuit Legacy In China


Thousands of volumes were looted during the Second World War, what remained was almost destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, and the collection is now housed in the Bibliotheca Zikawei, a French Jesuit-founded library in the south of the city, and no longer under the Society's control.
