Built By Jesuits


The Catholic Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, built by Jesuits in the French Gothic style from buff sandstone, is praised for its `great architectural daring'. Byrne describes how the church shows the growing confidence of Lancashire's Catholic community in the Victorian era.
