Still, it’s unfortunate that the Cardinal Newman Society enforces their interpretation of this value on other Catholics, and even on society-at-large.

I am pro-life and believe that Roe-Wade should be overturned. But soon I must stop explaining that the sanctity of life is not the only value to consider and that it is inappropriate to overturn a law while it is still widely supported by society.

At some point, the very definition of the Catholic community will change to include only those who put life above all other values, and this new interpretation of “love your neighbor” will be recognized by God as a choice made by a community. In choosing our interpretations we have already closed our ears and our eyes to most communication from God. This will limit it even further.

We may not honor the values of a community, but God will honor the values chosen by the Catholic community. In general, God practices “love your neighbor” and honors the genuine values chosen by a community, even when He disagrees. So, while lessons will still continue, as they always have, we will lose important warnings that could greatly reduce suffering.

On this topic, it is too late for the Church as a whole. But there are still those who can promote humility and recognize that the will of God transcends any Church interpretation. This is not anti-Church or anti-Catholic or anti-God. Catholicism should not require blind obedience. Catholicism is not greater than God.TonyDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10383259752181717440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-44918019052750220.post-4162226700045245442011-02-19T01:35:31.676-05:002011-02-19T01:35:31.676-05:00Havcn't you heard?
