Yet Kevin Clarke a blogger at America's In All Things, somehow ties the tragedy of Tuscon to Glenn Beck and Sara Palin and their millions of readers, listeners and voters. This is an excerpt of Clarke's post entitled, The Tuscon Tragedy.
In the dazed aftermath of the mayhem in Tucson, there has been much digital ink spilled measuring out the blame for the attack on the indiscriminate rhetoric of America's permanent campaign culture as if specific percentages of culpability could be affixed to the loose and unpleasant lips of a Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin. I am not about to defend the lazy and toxic hyperbole of the prevailing political culture, certainly there has been far too much talk of tyranny, treason, and "second amendment" responses in recent cultural-political "debates."

I can't think of any Democrats with the same audience that Sarah Palin and Glen Beck have.

When Palin speaks, it is covered by talk shows, news shows, entertainment shows, newspapers, blogs, magazines, and her cable show.

So it is appropriate to assign more responsibility to those who, by virtue of their platform, have more responsibility for vitriolic speech.

The shooter also read Ayn Rand. . .

Anonymous 6:47,

I agree that the shooter was mentally ill. And I have no opinion about any association between political vitriol and the shooter’s actions.

My point was that it is reasonable for the Jesuit blog to use the most visible examples of vitriolic speech, and that those who use such language are responsible for their own judgment and resulting actions.

I hope it is obvious that my comment relates to religion, not politics.

The board of directors of America Magazine should remission everyone at America from Fr. Drew right down to the janitor.

Oh, why is that Jack?

You don't like a learned journal that challenges your narrow world view, do you?

I don't like a journal that contradicts the teachings of Christ and His Church.

Bravo! Excellent post to assemble the facts - something the leftist media finds too inconvenient.
